John Knowles has worked in the IT Security industry since the mid-eighties. He has worked in many sectors including government, pharmaceuticals and retail banking as a consultant. In the nineties John became a corporate IT security manager. He has worked on global security programmes in some the world’s leading investment banks.
John joined BP as Global Security Manager for BP’s energy trading operation in January 2002. In January 2004 he assumed the role of Deputy Chief Information Security Officer for BP. He is currently responsible for driving BP’s digital security risk management strategy implementation globally.
John is active in government and industry security forums and holds post graduate qualifications in Computer and Physical Security.
