The FIRST Multi-Stakeholder Ransomware SIG is very pleased to announce the release of the first version of the Ransomware Empowerment training. This has been a significant undertaking, requiring many months of dedicated effort from our dear SIG members. We have made it our priority to ensure that this training is TLP:CLEAR, so that it can be of benefit to all.
The training aims to empower the community with the knowledge and skills to prepare for, handle and respond to ransomware attacks, thereby increasing their cyber resilience. It places a strong focus on the incident response process and real-world application, drawing on the extensive experience of our SIG members.
The training comprises approximately 185 slides. The slides are grouped by topic into sections, some more organizational, others more technical. It is therefore designed to be modular to help you build a training session that is appropriate for your audience. New sections will be added over time, and we will continue to improve the training based on your feedback. Please do submit it to msr-sig@first.org.
Parts of this training have already been delivered on two occasions. The inaugural session was held over two days and was given by Gregor Wegberg and Serge Droz at the Balkan Cybersecurity Days 2024. The second session was a one-day event held in Japan at the FIRSTCON24, given by Éireann Leverett, Nadia Meichtry, and Lorenzo Nicolodi. Both sessions were met with considerable success. Many thanks again to our SIG trainers and to the participants for their feedback!
You can find the slides under www.first.org/education/trainings.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this training! It is the result of a highly collaborative effort between all our SIG members, and we immensely appreciate all the hard work that went into it.
