2024 FIRST Regional Symposium Latin America & Caribbean

Asunción, Paraguay - October 9-10, 2024

The FIRST symposium will be co-located with LACNIC 42 / LACNOG 2024 at the Conmebol Convention Center in Asunción, Paraguay.

FIRST symposia provide a discussion forum to share information about vulnerabilities, incidents, tools, and all other issues that affect the operation of incident response and security teams. Attendees are expected to be comprised of FIRST members, CSIRTs from the Latin American and Caribbean Region that are not members yet, plus network operators and security professionals from the LAC region.

This meeting is open to FIRST members and non-members of the incident response community.

Virtual viewing option and simultaneous translation will be available for plenary sessions only.

Call for Speakers - Deadline August 9

We are seeking for colleagues interested in presenting during the FIRST Symposium (FS). Presentations may be given in English, Portuguese or Spanish. Simultaneous interpretation will be available for the plenary session day.

Some suggested topics are as follows:

Case studies and lessons learned in incident handling
Use of threat feeds for incident response, workflow, and policies
Practical security monitoring, threat detection, and analysis
Tools, trends, and security technologies in the LAC region
DNS, IPv6 and routing security and best practices
Digital forensics applied to incident handling
Malware analysis, anti-virus evasion, etc.
Security and IoT
Impact of data breaches, privacy and data protection regulation on incident handling
Incident response tools, trends and security technologies
Security awareness initiatives
Effective security outreach and communication with decision makers, the public and stakeholders
Public-Private collaboration and collaboration between CERTs/CSIRTs

Registration Information

There will be no fee to attend the symposium. Virtual registration is available. Attendees of the FIRST Symposium are cordially invited to particpate in LACNIC 42 / LACNOG 2024 activities. Registration for both the LACNIC 42 / LACNOG 2024 and the FIRST Symposium are required.
