Professor Brian Collins, Chief Scientific Advisor to the UK’s Department for Transport addressed senior executives attending the Corporate Executive Program’s Global Risk Summit at Gleneagles in Scotland in May to debate trends and anticipate the major risks that will impact international business over the next 12 months.

During his update to CEP members on transport security and risks Prof Collins advised that airline passengers should not expect to see any immediate change in the restrictions currently being experienced at airports. He urged those responsible for risk and security issues to ensure that the decisions they make on a day-to-day basis are underpinned with the most accurate information available.

Collins also pointed out that some risk and security practitioners might not have begun to include in their enterprise-wide risk plans, mitigation procedures aimed at the challenges arising from global warming, such as flash flooding.
