"Unified Security: Improving the Future"

15 April 2015 – The Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), a recognised global leader in incident response, is holding its 27th Annual Conference this June (14th – 19th) in Berlin, Germany. Cornelia Rogall-Grothe, State Secretary and Federal Government Commissioner for Information Technology at Germany's Federal Ministry of the Interior, will open the conference which this year focuses on the theme of Unified Security: Improving the Future.

Through a combination of workshops, speakers and keynote addresses, FIRST will use the conference as a platform to stimulate action on the issue of the future of security. Topics under discussion will range from enabling innovation in cyber security and preparing for the threat of IoT to the role of network forensics in IT security and cyber security challenges in the financial sector.

Each day will open with a keynote address from an expert from the field of information technology and cyber security, from a line-up including:

  • Mikko Hyponen, Chief Research Officer, F-Secure
  • Dr. Philipp Amann, MSc, Senior Strategic Analyst, European Cybercrime Centre, Europol
  • Olaf Kolkman, Chief Internet Technology Officer, Internet Society

Other confirmed speakers include representatives from a range of leading global organisations, including: Hewlett-Packard, World Bank Group, Microsoft, Siemens and Intel Corporation.

Robert Floodeen, Program Chair of FIRST says, "As a community of incident response and security teams, we are continually bombarded by events that keep us focused on the immediate needs of our constituency rather than their future needs. The FIRST annual conference in Berlin provides the ideal opportunity for us to take a step back and focus our collective efforts on improving the future of security together."

The conference is open to both FIRST and non-FIRST members and welcomes IT managers, network and system administrators, software and hardware vendors, law enforcement representatives, security solutions providers, telecommunications organisations, ISPs, and general computer and network security personnel.

Hosted by DFN-CERT, this year's conference will be held at the InterContinental Berlin. More information regarding registration fees and registration terms and conditions can be found at https://www.first.org/conference/2015/registration
